Design/Tech Track

The design/tech track educates students with a passion or interest for the other side of the stage. Through hands on practicum in a variety of theatrical disciplines, we guide students toward confidence and independence in theatrical craft and creation. Students take classes in all areas of design: lighting, sound, set, costume, hair and makeup. In addition, these students leave with carpentry, painting, and stage management skills that make them well equipped to enter professional opportunities.

In their senior year, design/tech students take their practicum a step further. Each student receives either a design or stage management assignment on one of our main-stage shows. Under the leadership and supervision of our faculty, all of whom are working professionals with strong ties to the Cleveland theatre community, these students learn to take ownership of the design process and balance their visions with the concept and visions of the director.
